My name is Michał Babiarz and I’m self taught photographer. I was brought up in Gdynia in northern Poland. For the majority of my life, have been living by the Baltic Sea, where I spent most of my free time discovering living elements of the seascape. I have always been fascinated by the nature and wanting to freeze the moment to be able to share it with the world. I started my journey with analog Zenit cameras that I got from my father. I experimented with first compact digital devices and took first steps into photography. Since then I continued with my photographic journey.
Close contact to the surrounding nature has guided me to explore the knowledge about seas to that level that I started studying Oceanography and Marine Biology in Gdańsk. Today, I work as R&D scientist and scientific diver for Portuguese biotechnology company. In free time I enjoy discovering remote, untouched by human hand places at the west coast of Algarve. I try to capture the landscape and wild life with my Pentax cameras, both digital, and staying true to my roots-film ones too. I’m a certified divemaster and a person who enjoys free diving. I love being underwater and connect with the ocean. It allows me to admire and capture its beauty with a camera.
